The AEV Highmark Fender Flare kit takes the standard 23+ Colorado ZR2 to the next level. If you didn't buy the Bison, you can get the look and much of the off-road functionality of it with this kit. The fit and quality of the flares is great along with a 1/2" lift front and back. Went to 35's and couldn't be more pleased with the finished project. More than worth the installation process.
3 of the four flares have noticeable gaps between the fender/bedside and the flare. Mounting hardware is not sufficient to close these gaps. These were installed by the local AEV Dealer recommended on this site. To date, AEV's response has been "it's normal." I came to AEV and its dealer to purchase an OEM-quality product. This is not up to that standard thus far.
Hi Rabernhardt, the gaps you may be noticing on the AEV HighMark Fender Flares could be due to a variety of reasons. The AEV Fender Flares are the same parts used on the production Colorado Bison. They’re made from UV-stable Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO), which naturally expands and contracts due to temperature changes outside. Because of this, small gaps can become more noticeable in colder temperatures, even when the flare is installed correctly. There can also be normal vehicle-to-vehicle variance in the fender surface that can lead to differences in how tight the flare fits to the surface of the fender
Installation of this kit is not for the novice. It requires drilling 12 plus holes in each fender (front & rear) along with cutting both sides of the front fenders. Complete installation instructions are available on the AEV website and are very complete. I had no issues with the installation process. The fit and finish of the HighMark fender flare kit was flawless; I have no gaps and the flares fit tight against the body panels. The installation took about 10 hours (each fender requires templates for drilling) take your time and check it twice and drill once!
