AEV/Bilstein XP8100 Reservoir Shocks for 2018+ Jeep Wrangler JL
AEV/Bilstein XP8100 Reservoir Shocks for Jeep Wrangler JL
$2,194.00
AEV/Bilstein XP8100 Reservoir Shocks are a high-performance, direct-fit upgrade for your lifted Jeep Wrangler JL. This upgrade will provide increased dampening performance and consistency over our standard 5100 shocks, especially on heavier vehicles that travel at higher speeds over rough terrain.
DESIGNED FOR DURABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
These AEV/Bilstein XP8100 Remote/Piggyback Reservoir Shocks are constructed from aerospace quality billet components and tuned by AEV to work in perfect harmony with your outfitted Jeep. When we tune shocks, we use the same target weight as one of our turn-key conversions to ensure that you get the absolute best possible ride quality and handling, without the degradation in performance commonly associated with the added weight of bumpers, winch, full size spare, tent, etc.
Heat management is critical for consistent performance and longevity, so these large bore, 66mm (2.6″) shock bodies are paired with a unique remote or piggyback reservoir, offering a higher oil volume capacity to control heat while tackling rough road surfaces over long distances – a scenario that many overland travelers know all too well. The larger piston area also offers added control in hard use (such as with heavy trucks) and ability to tune for a broader damping range for vehicles that get used with and without added gear. For improved durability against corrosion, these shocks feature the same silver painted finish as our 5100 series shocks.
These Bilstein XP8100 reservoir shocks are available as a set of (4) for customers looking to upgrade their existing shock package in addition to being included with our new 2.5-3” DualSport XP Suspension Systems and pair exceptionally well with our 3” High Capacity Coil Springs.
Whether rugged trails or asphalt roads, the AEV/Bilstein XP8100 Reservoir Shocks offers consistent comfort and control so you can tame the terrain in style.
Please Note: AEV XP8100 Shocks are NOT compatible with the Gen 1 AEV RX Front Bumpers that were installed on some early JL350/370 conversions. If you are unsure of what generation bumper you have, please contact our Sales Team at (248) 926-0256 for further assistance. To clarify, this does not apply to Gen 2 (current model) AEV RX Front Bumpers.

Product FAQs
- Will I really be able to tell a difference from upgrading to the XP8100?
Honestly, yes. However, the magnitude of the improvement will be somewhat situational. For example, if you have a vehicle that is on the heavy side (typical overland style build-out), you will notice a very significant improvement over the RT5100, both in ride quality and consistency of the dampening when running at higher speeds over rough surfaces, due to the XP8100's ability to manage heat better.
Now, if you were driving that same vehicle around town on the highway, you would still notice an improvement in ride quality and handling over the RT5100 but it would not as be as significant.
At its core, the XP8100 is a true performance upgrade for your vehicle's suspension both on and off-road.
- Why aren’t the XP8100 shocks adjustable?
Simply put, we already did the hard work for you. These shocks are tuned by AEV and manufactured by Bilstein specifically for our turn-key vehicle packages. This means if you have a JL Wrangler, Gladiator or Ram with our suspension, bumpers, winch, etc. these shocks are already fully optimized for you.
In a race environment, where track conditions vary race-by-race or even day-by-day, full adjustability is an absolute must but in the real world, it’s just not necessary if you have a well-tuned shock. Adjustable shocks have become all the rage in the off-road community and understandably so (they do look cool) but more often than not, these shocks serious overkill for the vehicle they are on.
- Are the XP8100 shocks rebuildable?
While these shocks are designed to be low-maintenance for daily driven applications, it is worth noting that they are in fact user-rebuildable and serviceable. However, with the XP8100 you will not have to contend with the same servicing/rebuild requirements that many aftermarket race shocks have.
- Will these shocks work with another manufacturer’s suspension lift?
While these shocks are tuned for our suspension package, etc. these shocks will also work with other suspension lifts of the same height.
- How much maintenance does the finish require?
Nothing special, just soap and water. We have Bilstein paint these at their factory for added protection against corrosion (compared to a raw aluminum shock body) and to keep them looking good for years to come.
- What is the warranty on the XP8100 shocks?
These shocks carry Bilstein’s 2-Year Warranty
- Where are these shocks manufactured?
These shocks are proudly manufactured in the USA by Bilstein.
